Bray, 24, is one of the growing number of young people who express non-traditional gender identities, exploring and challenging the social categories of male and female, manifesting aspects of both without transitioning from one gender to the other.
“For me it’s more about not feeling 100 percent comfortable identifying as a woman, because I don’t feel like I fit into any of the stereotypes,” said Bray, who volunteers at OutReach, a lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender resource center in Madison. “But I don’t identify as a man, either, in any way. I’m in that sort of fluid zone where who I am is not really represented by society.”

I confess to being absolutely delighted to see such a comment. I am very tired of the gay/trans dichotomy. Why not any number of possibilities. I like yaoi which can put very feminine psychology into male bodies. The mix is very intriguing. It tells me a lot about myself. I just wish there were some place where one could meet all these different identity shifts in the flesh.

I really appreciated these comments. I fall outside the bisexual system. Everyone is searching for someone that is attractive and interesting. If someone puts limitations on their choices by not looking past the outer expression of their sex then that is fine. I just wish more people could be accepting and open to the possibility of someone like me. I am a male by genital configuration and I am primarily attracted to “womyn” who identify as lesbian, bisexual, trans mtf, or ftm. I really am attracted to anyone who is interesting. I have greater interest in the mind than the body. I am a conduit for others to explore the boundaries of their pleasure possibilities. I love seeing people who seem confident in who they are, probably because I am not sure how to describe myself. This was long and rambling but I am happy a forum such as this exists. We do need some sort of venue to get together and express our gender expressions or lack thereof with freedom and understanding. andY?
