Marriage Equality Shoppe

» Marketing to gays

Press release:

After a phenomenal pre-launch, private sale for clients, associates and friends, we are happy to open the savvyplanners.com Marriage Equality Shoppe™ to everyone! “This success should be shared”, said the company’s CEO.

In the first charitable effort as a provider of marriage equity retail goods, savvyplanners.com are donating all profits from the internet store’s sales between July 1 and September 1, 2006 to organizations working for marriage equality for all.

“We are proud to share our exclusive marriage equality design, which was specially created for us for Key West Pride, for this important purpose. It was gifted to us by a very nice Key West graphic designer. We love it and I feel this is an acceptable way to re-gift it or share it for this cause”, said Nico Pellegrini, the director of media relations for savvyplanners.com.

The design has only been used in limited print and video pieces and the company decided to make it available for retail and, for this effort, completely charitable use.

The basic design consists of two gold wedding bands nestled on an oval-shaped rainbow gradient. There is also a branded version on some items.

According to Pellegrini, “We wanted to make certain that buyers didn’t feel that they were nothing more than a walking advertisement. We made sure to only brand a few items. If buyers choose to select any of those products during this drive, then great. Of course we’d appreciate it, but we made efforts to assure that the message remained more important than the brand. This project is all about the message and how it can help the groups.”

According to company CEO, MW Savant, “This is a great opportunity for us to make a difference and for buyers to declare their position on Marriage Equality support with these (60+) tasteful, yet plain-speaking, high-quality products! Supporters can show their fair-minded nature OR GLBTI pride without a word.” He also gently referred to the approach as somewhat of a ‘velvet hammer’.

“The truth is that I bought many of the products personally and use them (from a special staff-only store) to equip our associates in the northeast and Key West. I wanted to test the quality, service, delivery and customer care of the Shoppe’s facilitator because I had never dealt with CafePress before. Cynic that I often am, I am happy to report that they passed all the tests brilliantly!”, he said.

The products are expected to inspire opportunities for intelligent discussion or to enlighten someone about the truth of GLBTI families and the importance of marriage equity and the benefits to those couples and their families.

Some of the products feature a more muted impression on certain fabrics. This adds another layer of subtlety to the message. They are more bold on the hard goods such as ceramics and plastics.

The savvyplanners.com Marriage Equality Shoppe™ features departments such as Apparel, Baby, Housewares, Hats & Bags, Stickers, Buttons & Magnets, Posters, Prints and more. There’s even a Doggie T-shirt in multiple sizes.

The shoppe’s order fulfillment is entirely handled by CafePress.com. All transactions are guaranteed secure and offer a 30 day money-back guarantee as well.

Director of Client Care, Irma Rabinowitz, says “We hope that everyone will spread the word and help us assist those agencies that are on the front lines for marriage equality! We have been so fortunate in our business and felt this was a good way to directly give back to GLBTI families & our community and to support marriage fairness.”

Buyers are notified that no sensitive personal transaction data are shared with savvyplanners.com at any time.

The company has stated that this is a new project for them and hopes that it can be a regularly renewable fund raising project for those non-profit marriage equity organizations.

For the present time they plan to assist the organizations in their service areas and hope to perhaps expand its fund raising reach internationally in this long-term international challenge.

“There are so many worthy organizations, in our service areas alone, in this battle for basic human rights. I am carefully evaluating them in order to ascertain where this gift should go”, said certified professional wedding planner Savant. “Here’s an opportunity to ‘pay it forward’”, he added.

This drive is scheduled to run through the summer and end on September first. It may be extended based on its success. savvyplanners.com may choose to offer another sale in which it offers one hundred percent of the profits to marriage equality organizations at any time at their discretion.

savvyplanners.com states that all purchase-related customer service questions should be directed to the manufacturer/supplier and not to the offices of savvyplanners.com. They extend their thanks, in advance, for all support of this charitable project.
