Russian Homophobia Targeted by Eurovision Protests
See more » Homophobia
Even in the metropolis of Moscow Russia sounds much like America was for gay men and women before the Stonewall Riot. The recent gay rights protest staged at the time Moscow hosts Eurovision has had plenty of press coverage.
Eurovision enjoys considerable support from the gay community, and Russian activists hoped to take advantage of the event to draw international attention to what they describe as rampant homophobia in the country.
Police hauled away around 40 demonstrators, including Britain-based activist Peter Tatchell and American activist Andy Thayer of Chicago, co-founder of the Gay Liberation Network.

The mayor of a world capitol sounds like an ignorant American Baptist:
City authorities had barred Saturday’s rally saying it was morally wrong. Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov has described homosexuality as “satanic.”

Hopefully pressure from the outer world will begin to make life better for Russian gay men and women.

I believe that Russia is way behind in the times. Gays are in every country(yes, even Iran). The President of Iran says that their are no LGBT people in Iran, I beg to differ. We are here & not going anyway, even if they have to hide their sexuality because are actions the will face if they ever went public with being Gay. Thanks..
