UK OutRage! continues their lobbying against Jamaican reggae stars whose music encourages the murder of gay people. This time it is Sizzla Kalonji:
His hit tune Pump Up has the line “Shot battybwoy, my big gun boom”. Battybwoy is a Jamaican insult, similar to faggot, poof and queer.
OutRage! wants ‘anti-gay’ gig axed

i think everyone has a rught to their own opinion about people,even gay or not.so if sizzla says he would kill a gay guy so be it.his music shouldnt be stopped for expressing his own perspectiive.

Jamaican’s have been thought that buggering was a sin punished by hanging. Back in the colonial days. Stories, songs and poetry exclaim the same. If someone does not like his message then they should attend his concerts. But why should those that do enjoy his music and message have th esuffer for the minority?? Jah Bless

I am from the Caribbean,Barbados and Sizzla has a lot of popularity here. I think a man has the right to say what he wants as long as it isn’t promoting racism or violence.I like Sizzla a lot and have seen him live,he is a very good entertainer and is very talented.I personally don’t like gays and most people in Barbados and the Caribbean don’t.So if gays have a problem with Caribbean or black people, too bad.They can’t control what artistes sing.

I’m gay and also a fan of sizzla kalonji….i think its sad though that he writes such violent lyrics. If he hates gay people so be it but he shouldn’t have the right to tell his audience to ‘shoot battybwoy wit a big gun’ or watever. That’s inciting hatred AND murder and it should be illegal. Kalonji’s music would not be any differnt without the homophobia- so why can’t he drop it?
