Many adults in the United States give their consent to gay and lesbian sportspersons, according to a poll by Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, released by Sports Illustrated, NBC and the USA Network. 78 per cent of respondents believe there is no problem with gay athletes participating in sports, even if they are open about their sexuality.
