A Canadian mom visiting an American Apparel shop noticed a copy of Butt sticking out of a mannequin’s backpack.
Taken aback by the image of a man’s naked buttocks on the cover, she pulled it from the bag and opened it to a centrefold layout of men engaged in a sexual act. She was relieved her daughter did not see the double-page spread. And despite the fact the company is notorious for its sexually charged marketing campaigns, with salacious ads of young hipsters in skimpy underwear, she was still baffled as to why the store — which also carries baby and children’s clothing — would allow such material within reach of minors.
