A review of Homocore: The Loud and Raucous Rise of Queer Rock:

According to authors David Ciminelli and Ken Knox, “Homocore” was coined in the ’80s as a sister term for “Hardcore.” It eventually came to describe musicians who eschewed popular gay culture in favor of loud guitars and thunderous drums as well as the fierce political statements they could make in the rock music realm.
